(Is this photo giving you deja vu?)From about 8 weeks or so, Ivy has been going to bed around 10pm. From 7pm until 10, she would be extremely tired and fussy, but would only sleep if being bounced or nursed. And by that I mean, continuously bounced for 3 hours or continuously nursed for 3 hours. Almost impossible to do on a regular basis, so she was getting sleep deprived.
Finally this week I decided to bite the bullet and let her engage in some crying. We decided to go with "check and console" as our sleep training method of choice. Suffice it to say, we are on day four, and for the last three days, Ivy has been starting her nights at about 7:30, with about 10-15 minutes of crying beforehand. I go in to calm her down around 5 minutes into the crying bout. And also since starting, she has been sleeping longer and longer stretches. Last night, she slept for 4.5 hours, ate, then slept for 8 more hours!
Naps are still very hit-and-miss.
As soon as Ivy woke up from her morning nap today, Eliot insisted on holding her and wanted to read his book to her. Too cute! Another funny thing he's been doing is stealing her toys. Now, that in and of itself is actually annoying, not funny, but he always, as he rips it from her grasp, says with a big smile, "Thank you, Ivy!"
