The rug solution

I've been petitioning for an area rug for a while now, thinking it would be a softer surface for Eliot to learn to crawl and walk on. Something that could give him some traction, while still protecting him from all the falls. Other voting members of the household, however, keep pointing out that Eliot still vomits and drools all over, and rugs are extremely hard to clean.

Finally, the solution appeared. Found at Toys'r'Us- foam blocks! These are easily wiped clean, softer than the floor, and provide good traction. Not to mention they are colorful and mathematical! When Eliot is older, it will be time to play Mathematical Twister ("Right foot on a number evenly divisible by 4." "Left hand on pi times 2, rounded to the nearest whole number!")We spent Saturday afternoon with our friends Charles and Laurence, and their three adorable daughters.
